A comprehensive glossary of terms and mechanics in Wuthering Waves

Resonator

Playable characters who can wield elemental powers through resonance. Each resonator has unique abilities and can be obtained through the game's gacha system, known as "Convene".

Echo

Remnants of defeated enemies, called Tacet Discords. Echoes can be absorbed and equipped by resonators to grant them new abilities or stat improvements.

Sonata Effect

Passive bonuses that activate when certain echo sets are equipped. These effects enhance various combat attributes and promote strategic echo combinations.

Tacet Discord

Hostile creatures that emerged after the catastrophic event known as Lament. Defeating them yields echoes and other valuable resources.

Tacet Field

Special zones where players can battle Tacet Discords to farm echoes and echo development materials. Each field offers unique bonuses and challenges.

Waveplate

The game's stamina system required to receive rewards from activities like Tacet Fields and boss challenges. Waveplates regenerate over time and can be refilled using items or premium currency.

Convene

The gacha mechanic in Wuthering Waves that allows players to summon resonators and weapons. There are different types of Convenes, including standard and event-specific banners.

Astrite

Premium currency used for Convenes and refilling waveplates. Astrite can be earned through gameplay or purchased with real money.

Forte

A system representing a resonator's skills, including basic attack, resonance skill, forte circuit, resonance liberation, and intro skill. Players can upgrade these skills to improve combat effectiveness.

Resonance Skill

A character's elemental skill with a short cooldown that is frequently used in combat to deal damage or apply effects.

Resonance Liberation

A resonator's ultimate ability that deals significant damage or provides crucial buffs. It requires energy buildup through combat actions.

Intro/Outro Skill

Special skills that activate when a resonator enters (intro) or leaves (outro) the battlefield. These skills can provide various effects such as buffs or area damage.

Data Bank

A system that records collected echoes and their abilities. Increasing the data bank level improves echo drop rates and unlocks additional features.

Union Level

The overall level of the player's account that increases by completing quests, activities, and challenges. Higher union levels unlock new content and features.

SOL3 Phase Level

A progression system tied to union level milestones. Players must complete certain quests to increase their SOL3 phase level and unlock higher content and character progression.

Attributes

Elemental types associated with resonators and enemies. The six attributes are: Fusion (fire), Glacio (ice), Aero (wind), Electro (lightning), Spectro (light), and Havoc (darkness). Each attribute interacts differently in combat, with strengths and weaknesses against others.

Shell Credit

The main currency of the game used for upgrading resonators, weapons, and skills. Earned through various activities and combat.

Crystal Solvent

An item used to instantly restore 60 waveplates, allowing participation in additional activities without waiting for natural regeneration.

Simulation Challenge

Resource dungeons that provide materials for upgrading resonators and weapons. These challenges consume waveplates and are essential for progression.

Forgery Challenge

Dungeons that drop weapon ascension and forte upgrade materials. Each forgery challenge corresponds to specific weapon types.

Boss Challenge

Battles against powerful enemies that drop resonator ascension materials. These challenges are crucial for character progression.

Weekly Challenge

Challenging encounters available once per week that offer valuable rewards such as advanced materials and echo-related items.

Tower of Adversity

An endgame mode featuring a series of challenging floors, divided into Stable, Experimental, and Hazardous zones. Success brings significant rewards and tests team composition and strategy.

Depths of Illusive Realm

A roguelike game mode where players navigate through randomized floors, collect buffs, and face various challenges. It offers a different gameplay experience without consuming waveplates.
