What Are Echoes in Wuthering Waves?

Echoes in Wuthering Waves are collectible entities that allow players to absorb the powers of defeated enemies and enhance their Resonators. Each Echo contains the essence of a Tacet Discord or other foe and provides valuable stat bonuses, elemental boosts and even powerful active skills.

Players can equip up to five Echoes per character, with one main Echo determining the character's Echo Skill — a special ability used in combat. Echoes are categorized by rarity and cost (Common, Elite and Calamity) and they play a vital role in shaping your character's build and playstyle.

Echo System Overview

By combining different Echoes, players can activate Sonata Effects — set bonuses that further amplify stats or grant unique combat effects. Whether you're building a damage-focused Resonator or a support unit, mastering the Echo system is essential for progression and high-level play.

In short: Echoes are the core customization system in Wuthering Waves, blending monster collecting with deep RPG optimization.

How to Obtain Echoes

You can acquire Echoes from specific enemy encounters, general exploration and progression systems:

Tacet Discords

Powerful elite enemies known as Tacet Discords drop high-quality Echoes. These mini-bosses are found in designated overworld locations and can be tracked via the map.

World Exploration

Standard enemies also drop Echoes upon defeat, though with lower rarity. The chance of acquiring Echoes increases with your Data Bank level.

Data Bank Progression

Each new Echo you collect is logged into your Data Bank. As the Data Bank level rises, Echo drop rates, variety and tier unlocks improve significantly.

Weekly Bosses and Events

Special timed content such as weekly world bosses or limited-time events offer guaranteed Echo drops, often from rare sets or Calamity-tier sources.

Echo Classes & Cost System

In Wuthering Waves, Echoes are categorized into different classes based on their strength, cost and potential to enhance your build. Each Resonator can equip a limited number of Echoes, with a total cost cap of 12 points, encouraging thoughtful combinations and synergy.
